Harinder S. Gill, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Originally interested in neurology, Dr. Gill decided to study cardiology instead because, “cardiology impacts more of the other specialties than anything else.” Cardiology gave him the chance to impact people’s lives, which he has been doing over the past 25 years while treating patients with cardiovascular and peripheral vascular disease.
He is committed to helping his patients with preventative cardiac care and is at the forefront of new therapeutic techniques and procedures. He was the first to introduce radial artery access at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and continues to be a leading proponent for cardiac procedures.
With all of his experience Dr. Gill says the bulk of his work is cognitive; “it’s thinking of the patient’s needs.” Patients appreciate his empathetic nature which helps support them while facing acute illness.
Other traits that make a good cardiologist are perceptual insight, common sense, wisdom, and courage, he says. “It’s doing what’s right based on what you know and what is best for the patient.”
Having been with the Waukesha Heart Institute since 1990, he says what sets us apart is our “breadth and depth of knowledge.” It’s why patients have put their lives in our hands for 25 years.
